Discovery Task Health

Explanation of what the task was that you were given: to answer 5 questions about our chosen topic and then create something to show your learning. My chosen topic was about drugs on the mind and body: cocaine.

Explanation of what you did: I chose to make a Kahoot about my topic. I did this because it was one of the easiest options for me. The Kahoot is about cocaine and how it affects the mind and body

Reflection: Next time I will try to get more information about my topic because I feel like I was lacking a little bit of information

Minimum wage

A lot of people are saying that they think the minimum should be increased and a few people said that it should be made a living wage

while I can understand that it would benefit people making minimum wage it would mean that other jobs would need an increase to balance it out

Veduino

In DTE term 4 we were focusing on making our own Arduino project. for this, we were making a vending machine using the Arduino the push the item out.

RESEARCH: We are going to be making a mini tabletop vending machine that will be powered by an Arduino code. We are making this because we saw a video on how to make it and we thought it looked cool.

Arduino and case: we were going to laser cut the case but we couldn't get it working in time so we weren't able to cut it, we didn't start on the Arduino because we were to focused on the box.

How to use taps in engineering

How to use Taps and die sets in engineering:
Taps and dies are tools used to create screw threads, which is called threading. Many are cutting tools; others are forming tools.

What is tap and die used for in Engineering? Taps and dies are tools used to create screw threads, which is called threading. Many are cutting tools; others are forming tools.

When would you use a tap for a thread? tap is used to cut or form the female portion of the mating pair (eg a nut). A die is used to cut or form the male portion of the mating pair (eg a bolt)

Does the hole need to be bigger or smaller, explain why. Use The Correct Hole Size

If the hole is too small, it will cause the tap to bind and quite possibly break trying to cut too much material.

Find a chart for a metric tapping thread size.

Link for help with threading

What are the different types of tap ( taper, intermediate, taper) explain the difference between them

Taper Tap

A taper tap has quite a lot of taper to help it ease into cutting threads gradually.   Typically, the first 8 to 10 threads are tapered.  Taper Taps are the most common types of taps and are typically what you’ll have in a Tap and Die Set.

Bottoming Tap

A bottoming tap has almost no taper at the end because it is designed to thread all the way to the bottom of its reach.  Only 1 to 1.5 threads will be tapered. Bottoming Taps are useful for threading blind holes.  It’s desirable to thread most of the hole with a Taper Tap first, and then finish the bottom of the hole with a Bottoming Tap.

Plug Tap

Plug Taps are in between Bottoming and Taper Taps because they have 3-5 threads tapered, which is more than a Bottoming Tap and less than a Taper Tap. Unfortunately, the terminology is not always consistent.  Some vendors call these “Second Taps” and refer to Bottoming Taps as Plug Taps.  Check to be sure what you’re getting and using.

Children of B&B Essay Practice

Children of B&B Essay Practice

Essay question: ‘Describe an incident which changes the course of events in the text. Explain how this helped you to understand an important idea in the text’

Statement

Example/Evidence (include a quote)

EXplain quote

EXplain Effect on the Reader

Your link -- to another part of the text

Your link -- to the wider world

The incident of saran carving the word maggot into Zelie's back helped me to understand the important idea of prejudice because it shows how far king Saran would go to torture Zelie just because she is different from him.

We see this in the text when Saran says “I admire your defiance child. It's impressive you’ve made it this far. But I wouldn't be doing my job as King if i didn't remind you what you are”

This shows that saran is abusing his power and taking out his anger on Zelie because of what happened to his old family but he is only allowed to do this because he is King

This made the reader feel bad for Zelie because she is on the receiving end of King saran abusing his powers.

It reminded me of another important part of the book when saran killed Amari's friend Binta because this also shows the idea of Prejudice.

In the real world, this idea is important because you shouldn't treat people differently no matter what even if they are different from you

Another way the incident of saran cutting the word “maggot” into Zelie's back helps us understand the idea from the other perspective because it shows us how vulnerable and helpless Zelie is when saran is torturing her. helped me to understand the important idea from the other perspective because it shows us how vulnerable and helpless Zelie is when saran is abusing his powers

We see this in the text when...

This means that…

This made the reader feel________ because _________.

It reminded me of another important part in the book when __________, because this also shows the idea of __________.

In the real world, this idea is important because ___________.

mBot Analysis

mBot and mBot Ranger

Robotics group review on the mBot and mBot Ranger

Names:

What we think about The mBot

What we think of the mBot Ranger

Greg

It’s very bad because it often malfunctions and does not run most code correctly which is very frustrating.

It doesn’t work

Austin

They malfunction often and sometimes they just run by themselves. The robot sometimes goes by its self.

It doesn’t work

Aron

They are kind of easy to use but can be annoying to make work. Not efficient when it comes to coding

It doesn’t work

Kalim

It’s 50/50 when it comes to enjoying and the difficult the sensors didn’t really work

It doesn’t work

Andre

It is a cool idea but they don’t always work the way it should

Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 9

“Mama, are you okay?”
Tears come to her eyes, spilling into the wrinkles of her dark skin. “It’s been so
long,” she whispers. “I never thought I would feel the warmth of magic again”

“I feel,” she chokes through her silent sobs. “I feel like I can breathe again.” A message I take from this scene is that not everyone isn't honest because everyone thought that Mama Agba wasn't a deviner but it turned out she was.

Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 3

“I am afraid not, Your Highness. I saw it with my own eyes. Their magic was
weak, but it was there.”
Skies…
What does this mean for us? What shall happen to the monarchy? Are the maji already planning an attack? Will we have any chance of fighting back? Memories of Father before the Raid play in my head, a paranoid man with grinding teeth and forever greying hair. The man who forced Inan and me into the palace cellar, placing swords in our hands though we were far too young and weak to lift them. The maji will come for you, he warned. The same words every time he forced us to spar. When they do, you must be prepared. A message I take from this scene is that Amari's father is really against the Maji and magic because he thinks it means death and more bad things.

Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 2

“It’s a diviner tax.” I grip the draped fabric of my pants, still haunted by the guard’s touch. “They came for Mama Agba, too. Probably hitting every home in Ilorin.” Tzain presses his fists to his forehead as if he could smash through his own skull. He wants to believe that playing by the monarchy’s rules will keep us safe, but nothing can protect us when those rules are rooted in hate. A message I take from this scene is that the diviners are being treated unfairly compared to everyone else just because of their magic

Lathe

Lathes are used in wood turning, metal turning, metal spinning, thermal spraying, parts reclamation, and glass-working. Lathes can be used to shape pottery, the best-known design being the Potters wheel. Most suitably equipped metalworking lathes can also be used to produce most solids of revolution , plane surfaces and screw threads or helices . Ornamental lathes can produce three-dimensional solids of incredible complexity. The work piece is usually held in place by either one or two centres, at least one of which can typically be moved horizontally to accommodate varying work piece lengths. Other work-holding methods include clamping the work about the axis of rotation using a chuck or collet, or to a face plate, using clamps or dog clutch. Information from Wikipedia. DTE Term 1 and 2 Reflection

TERM 1
During term 1 in DTE we had a choice to do start doing a scratch assessment or make a game on Gamefroot. I decided to do the scratch assessment because if you completed the assessment in time  you could earn a credit for when your year 11. When I was about to finish it we got hit with Coronavirus so I wasn't able to finish it

TERM 2
During Term 2 we have been planing and developing an app or game with a group of people. In my group I had Rykin, Andreas and Michael. Our app was made around helping people find a good build on the game 2K20.

My Experience: During this semester I liked being able to make my own game and also making an app with a group. I also liked learning how to code an app or a game and understanding what is going on inside the game/app

Here is a picture of our logo for the app.
