The Dropping Pins Experiment

Aim: To observe conduction along a metal rod

1. Set up and light a Bunsen Burner
2. Smear a small amount of petroleum jelly on to the head of each drawing pin
3. Attach the drawing pins at even intervals along the length of metal rod
4. Clamp one end of the metal rod to a retort stands
5. Position the retort stand so the unclamped end of the metal rod is in the Bunsen flame and start the stopwatch
6. Record the time it takes for each pin to drop on the table below

Explanation: The heat was transfering down the rod which made the pins vibrate thne they fell off when the heat became to much and that traveled down the line

February the 1st Monday it was the start of school period 4 it was the first day of digital tech we started off by making a web site and soon after we wore to make an infographic about ergonomics. later that week we played a game called Interland and we need to find the hidden message and write about it on web site we made. The following week we made another infographic about Cyber smart and 3 weeks later we made a thing on digital bites...

Purple Water Experiment

Aim: To make a dilution series to investigate.

Method: To place 6 test tubes in a test tube rack 1-6
- Using the measuring cylinder, fill test tube 1 with 10 mL of water. Using the  5 remaining test tubes with 5 mL of water.
- Using tweezers, add a single crystal of potassium permanganate to a test tube.
- Gently shake the test tube to the potassium permanganate has dissolved.
- Rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly to the purple solution is gone
- Gently shake test tube 2 and repeat the process, transfer exactly 5 mL of the solution from test tube 2 to 3
- Rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly again and repeat the transfer process for test tube 4, 5 and 6.

The results: First we added the solute which was potassium pomegranate into the test tube the water started turning purple then all the water went purple. Once that happened we to 5ml out of the first one which had 10ml in it with a pipette then transferred it into another test tube that had 5ml in it then we repeated that with our other test tubes. While we were doing that the other one got lighter purple.

The book I read today was called The Spooks Destiny and it was made by Joseph Delaney and it is fiction. Here are some things that I read about today

  • They went to a Haunted Hotel and fought a deal soul.

Table Tennis Ball Drop

AIM: To find out how high the ball will bounce if you drop it from different heights.

Hypothesis:

The higher the ball is dropped, the higher it bounces.

Method:
Drop the ball in a certain height then measure the height of the bounce, repeat this process at least 3 times and collect the data. Compare the data and calculate the average.

Independent Variable: Height dropped.
Dependent Variable: Height measured.

Control Variable: Height bounced.

The Spooks Destiny

Today in English I was a reading a book called The Spooks Destiny. So far the book is about three people that are going on an adventure one of them is the spook and then the other two are normal humans. What a spook does is talk to the ghosts and deal with that stuff.
